This week our school celebrates with spirit days each day. We have: Favorite Outfit- (thank goodness because nearly everyone forgets on Monday), Sports Day, Twin Day, Slipper Day and School Spirit Day. In years past the final day was a day to invite Grandparents to visit the class for the day. It also involved Book Fair. We are pushing back Grandparents' Day to the last Friday of school. There might be some actual fun things going on extra in my room this week- I will let my inner child guide me.
Things I am thinking about:
1. My beloved Tarheels did not win the big dance this year, but they had a great season.
2. Caterpillar world is growing outside the classroom door. The plants from last year are coming back to life. I have parsley for the newly hatched caterpillars to munch on and milkweed for the special butterflies to lay eggs upon. I was excited to see them coming back up after a debacle last year. It included a weed wacker and a groundskeeper that did not clearly know it was a special area and not very overgrown weeds. The struggle was real. Those poor kiddos did not understand that it wasn't "obvious" that there were caterpillar babies in every stage living there. Oh, it was a sad day. We learned a hard lesson about the circle of life that day- for real.
3.40 s0me days of school left this year. Where did it go? I might need to back map and make sure I get to all the fun things before time runs out. It has been a challenging year, but there are amazing things happening in room 115.
4. Tree pollen- your lovely coat of yellow on everything makes me sick- literally- here comes the sneezing and swollen eyes for a bit.
