Things in Room 115 are moving along. I am slowly giving power to the students. One hour a day, we do rotations. I run a small group and keep time, but their training is working well and they are independent learners for that time. It is fun to watch them figure things out and be successful when you give them the right tools.
We have invested in a math program called Dreambox learning and we select one boy and one girl twice a week to get the coveted sparkly name tag that they proudly wear that declare them: Dreambox Queen or King.
We finished our germ unit this week. I think the curiosity they have at a young age should continue to be fostered and not squashed. Ask questions and learn new things. We will start up Animal habitats soon.
This week, our county has a local fair. They close school on Friday- it is also youth day at the fair. It looks like the weather will be amazing this week day and night for fair activities.
We have our first Star of the Week student this week. My son gives me a random number and I select a student with that number. They will create a power point presentation with me during lunch one day, then invite the parents in to share with the class. I think it is a special activity and it comes with a book that the students create. Each writes a page and we combine it with the Star's personalized pages saying all the great things we like about the student. Everyone wants to be a star one day- young and old.
Keep spreading the love and caring to all.
